Preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics
In their preparation, setting achievable goals played a role. The teams initial goal was to rank among the top four in their group facing tough competitors such as the Netherlands, Belgium, China and Germany. Even though they were seated fifth the team set their sights on reaching the quarterfinals. Jude remarked that pre tournament rankings don’t influence their strategy. They trusted that by performing well on the day they could prove their worth.
Jude started off by talking about how the team is getting ready for the Olympics. He pointed out that its different from other big events. To get ready the team set up a training camp in the Netherlands and in Paris played practice matches against teams like GB and Australia. This was important because the Japanese team doesn’t regularly play top opponents.
