Never train the 1v1 in isolation, is Enrich’s blunt answer. A realistic 1v1 needs a goal, which gives both attacker and defender a direction, and at least one close teammate, because the threat of the pass is part of the duel and defenders must learn to defend against it too. Strip those away and the exercise becomes too simplistic, losing its transfer to the game. Watch the full masterclass: Small Sided Games.
