The cut version of the V-press starts from the same shape, then the central striker cuts as the ball is played, with the help side squeezing across to shrink the space. The aim is to trap the carrier on the sideline in a 2v1. When the ball is on the right, the direct cut comes from the right striker instead, which stops the opposition switching the play.
