Danny Kerry about the principles of defence

Four principles run through Kerry’s coaching: deny, dictate, disrupt, dispossess. Deny the opposition the ability to penetrate you first, then dictate them into small spaces, disrupt their options and dispossess, shifting between modes within fractions of a second. He uses them as questions rather than instructions, stopping sessions to ask players what cues they are reading and which principle those cues link to.
