High performance, he admits, is hard to define, but he points to six players who climbed the back of Table Mountain rather than admiring it from the cable car, and they were not his best hockey players. Culture, as he defines it, is the beliefs and values a coach and squad share plus the behaviours that match them. Any club can be high performing, whatever its level.
