Danny Kerry about how to introduce and train zone defence

Six a side is Kerry’s preferred training format: a box of four with a centre forward at the top and a cover defender behind, against six attackers who can go wherever they like. The forward splits play to one side and the cover defender handles anything over the top. Four a side works too, but on a much smaller pitch to take away the aerial options clever players reach for.
