Against a zone, movement no longer drags defenders around, so Cheesman manipulates passing lanes instead. Zonal defenders are told to press the ball in packs, so he deliberately tempts them with a little possession; when several collapse on the receiver, playing out of that pressure leaves an overload or open space somewhere else.
